Jabon – “Dead” at On The Boards June 12th and 13th

Continuing Jabon’s alliance with the Lingo Dance Company after the successfully executed “A Glimmer of Hope or Skin of Light”, Jabon performs “dead” again at On The Boards as part of the Northwest New Works Festival. There will be two performances on June 12th and 13th at 8pm. Also on the bill are:

The Offshore Project (Rainbow Fletcher & Ezra Dickinson) – Dance
Corrie Befort – Dance | Live Music
Laara Garcia/Pseudopod Interactive – Dance Theater

Jabon – “Dead” and in QUAD at the ACT Theater!

The next Jabon “performance” will be at the ACT Theater in the Bullitt Cabaret! This is a pre-recorded performance but is presented in surround! This composition accompanies the Lingo Dance Company’s performance of Glimmer of Hope or Skin or Light.

Compositionally, I’m supporting the most elegant, majestic, fantastical story of the afterlife that takes place in a Renaissance ballroom. The music follows the vampires, angels, ghosts and spirits as they search for their peace in this purgatory. As breathtaking as Disney’s Haunted Mansion or a David Lynch film.

And as you would expect from a Jabon performance, this dance is haunting, comical, surreal and upbeat. It’s a channeling of the Residents, Squarepusher, Amon Tobin, Gill Melle, and Xasthur.

The dance starts April 22nd and runs Thurs – Sat at 8pm until May 15th. No performance is scheduled on May 1st.

Jabon in the Stranger

Deakin, Jabon, Peppermint Majesty

(Neumos) Deakin (aka Animal Collective’s Deacon, aka Josh Dibb) drops into town on the back of AnCo and Danny Perez’s ODDSAC “visual album” show that’s happening March 30 (see Tuesday). Tonight, Deakin reportedly will perform a grip of Animal Collective material and some of his solo creations. If YouTube footage is anything to go by, this gig should be full of spectral dubgaze songs featuring Deakin’s distant, boyish croon, mantric loops, and shimmering guitar embroidery. Jabon (aka Scott Colburn, who engineered AnCo’s Feels and Strawberry Jam in his local Gravelvoice studio) is one of the few people on the planet who can legitimately call himself “audio wizard.” Colburn has at least 23 sonic personas he can roll out at you (go to jabon.gravelvoice.com to hear for yourself), and all of them can trip you the fuck out.
